Age of Empires: The Ancient World Expansion — a large-scale mod for the original Age of Empires and the Rise of Rome expansion, grown from the 5thLegacy Expanded project. It adds new civilizations, units, campaigns, and mechanics, four additional ages, a reworked balance, and unique technologies.

Installation Instructions mod Age of Empires: The Ancient World Expansion

  1. Download and install any standard version of the original Age of Empires. This can be Rise of Rome or even the Gold Edition.

  2. Download and install UPatchHD. It will fix compatibility issues and, in practice, allow the game to run on your PC.

  3. Download and extract The Ancient World Expansion into the mods folder in your Age of Empires directory.

  4. After that, an Age of Empires HD Launcher icon will appear on your desktop. This launcher lets you choose and start any mods from the mods folder.

Additional

You can go to the EXTRA folder and move those files into the Age of Empires folders if you want to hear the new intro music when the game starts and if you want the campaigns to have intro and ending videos. Also, make sure Windowed Mode is not enabled in the UpatchHD settings so the videos play properly.
