The patch is based on the latest official update v3.5 and includes all 4 official bonus cars: 928, 959, GT2, and GT3. Windows registry dependence has been removed, so the game is now fully portable. CD check and the dependency on gimme.dll have also been removed, which eliminated the memory leaks that made EmulateHeap compatibility mode necessary.

Verok's Porsche Unleashed Patch includes several renderers based on the EA Thrash engine (3rash):

  • dx7 — DirectX 7 renderer, improved by VEG

  • glide3x — Glide 3 renderer, improved by Verok

  • nglide — renderer for the nGlide v1.05 wrapper

  • opengl1 — OpenGL 1.1 renderer, developed by Verok

  • opengl3 — OpenGL 3.0 renderer, developed by Verok

The game now supports the desktop’s native resolution, widescreen formats (16:9, 16:10, and others) with correct field of view (FOV), and a much larger list of available resolutions. Menus and cutscenes are displayed in 32-bit color depth, texture filtering has been added for menu elements and fonts, and a hidden texture-detail option is enabled — the maximum value disables mipmapping.

Gameplay and graphics fixes

  • Car detail levels outside and inside have been raised to garage level — for example, you can now see the seats and windshield wipers in the Boxster.

  • The movable Carrera spoilers are now displayed correctly in cockpit view.

  • The crash on the Normandie track has been fixed — replacing the skybox is no longer necessary.

  • Unlit dashboards at night have been corrected.

  • Lens flare now disappears much less often.

  • Correct ZBias calculation for Glide has been fixed — rear lights are now shaded properly under trees.

  • Hand animations when shifting gears and honking the horn have been corrected.

Performance and CPU

The CPU time calculation method has been replaced — races now start faster. The CPU frequency limit has been raised from 2 GHz to 4 GHz, which fixes texture-detail and animation issues typical of modern processors. If needed, the frequency can be set manually through the configuration utility.

Configuration utility

The package includes a configurator that lets you choose the renderer, enable windowed mode, set the interface language (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Swedish, Brazilian Portuguese), and adjust other settings.

Known issues

On some PCs, the CPU issue may still remain — in that case, it is recommended to set the frequency manually through the configurator. If the game crashes after returning from a race to the menu, switching to low color depth mode (16-bit color) may help.
