Each side in Tiberium Essence has received significant changes:
GDI has regained its walkers — Titans and Wolverines, Mammoth Mk II, Hover MLRS, Sonic Disruptor, and other iconic machines from the Tiberian Sun era, while retaining some vehicles from the original C&C 3. The air fleet has been greatly expanded: the Orca received interchangeable weapons, the Orca Bomber returned, and the command ship Kodiak became the aerial epic unit. The Firestorm Shield is also back, now in the form of a large dome barrier.
Nod has focused on stealth and guerrilla tactics. The Devil's Tongue, APC, and the new epic unit Montauk can burrow underground and emerge where the enemy least expects it. The Scorpion regained the ability to dig in and transform into a stationary turret. Straightforward rushes have become less effective — the faction demands cunning and smart use of terrain.
Scrin have largely retained their original appearance, though most units have received new models and abilities. A lighter version of the Mastermind has been added for more accessible mind control, and power plants can be upgraded to emit a healing aura, opening up unconventional base layout options.
The fourth faction is the Forgotten — mutants armed with Tiberium weapons who make use of captured GDI, Nod, and earlier-era technology.
New maps in the style of Tiberian Sun have been added. Visual effects have been overhauled — new rocket trails, infantry death animations, and a reimagined sonic blast effect. The soundtrack has also been updated: Frank Klepacki's classics are complemented by original tracks. All new models follow the visual style of the original and blend seamlessly into the overall picture. All factions have gained the ability to build walls around their base.
The author paid special attention to balance — the pace of battles has become slower and more deliberate, with the emphasis shifting from rapid construction to strategy. There are some AI issues, however: Nod often struggles against GDI, and Scrin can dominate because opponents fail to build adequate anti-air defenses in time.
Tiberium Essence is one of the best mods for C&C 3, developed by essentially a single person. It restores the spirit and technology of Tiberian Sun — unjustly left behind by the developers — which had vanished without a trace from the original game.
How to install a mod Tiberium Essence
Make sure the game is updated to version 1.9.
Open File Explorer and navigate to Documents, find and open the folder "Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars". Inside it there should be a "Mods" folder. If it is not there, create it. As a rule, it is created automatically on the first launch of the game.
Move the folder "TiberiumEssence2" from the archive into the "Mods" folder.
Create a shortcut to CNC3.exe, open its properties and add -ui to the target field so that the game launches through the launcher. The result should look something like this: D:\Games\Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars\CNC3.exe" -ui
Alternative method: go to the game properties in your Steam and write -ui in the launch options.
Launch the game using the shortcut or through Steam.
The launcher will open — go to the "Game Browser" menu, then the "Mods" tab, select the mod there and click "Launch Game".
Play!
