Zone of Continuous Fire is a large-scale mod for Battlefield 2 that transforms the single-player experience. Visual effects, audio, and the interface have been overhauled, and an enormous amount of new content has been added: around 36 maps, over 80 vehicles, and 159 new weapons with an upgrade system.

All visual effects have been reworked, the audio has been replaced with more realistic sounds, and the interface has received a stylish dark design with an improved minimap, sharp icons, and convenient vehicle indicators. Even grenades now have a warning marker — a small detail, but one that noticeably affects gameplay.
Dozens of new weapons have been added with high-quality models and smooth animations. An upgrade system via unlocks is available. Every gun feels different from vanilla BF2 — hits feel far more impactful than in the original, and sniper rifles such as the SVD can kill enemies in two shots.
Vehicles have undergone significant changes: thermal vision has been added to heavy vehicles and APCs, new sights for aircraft and ground vehicles, iron sights for heavy machine guns, AA missiles on attack helicopters, and an enemy detection marker. The handling of several vehicles has been reworked and textures updated. Players can now spawn directly on an APC, helicopter, or boat, and bots have learned to fire guided missiles from helicopters and evade sniper and machine gun fire.
Despite all the changes, Zone of Continuous Fire retains the familiar rhythm of the original game — this is not a chaotic arcade mod, but something closer to a full remaster that stays true to the spirit of BF2. The mod also restores cut content from pre-release versions of the game, giving series veterans the chance to discover something new in it. It runs stably even on low-end machines and does not require the Special Forces expansion to be installed.
